Soften Your J7 Boot Closing Noise
Boot closing with a harsh plastic sound? This Borak² owner trick shows how a small dampening tweak can make the tailgate feel a little more solid.
Start with the closing sound
The video shows the owner-led placement before trying the dampening tweak. Watch it first so the contact area is clear.
The problem
The boot can sometimes close with a sharper plastic-on-plastic sound than expected. It is not always a big issue, but it can make the car feel less refined.
What worked for us
A small piece of cloth tape around the right plastic contact points can help dampen the vibration and give the boot a more solid closing sound.
Watch the video first and follow the demonstrated placement. Keep clear of the latch, moving parts, drains and sensors.
Why it helps
- It adds a small cushion between contact points.
- It can reduce vibration and harsh plastic contact noise.
- It makes the closing sound feel a little more solid.
Owner note
If your boot is hard to close, leaking, visibly misaligned or making a very loud mechanical sound, get it inspected instead of treating this as a tape fix.
